Look inside

One topic, start to finish.

From the Cardiovascular Medicine sample, the first two chapters of the real volume: the opener, the notes, the management section and the flashcard table that closes the chapter.

  • UKMLA Study Guide chapter opener for Acute Coronary Syndromes with an objectives box, a definition and the ECG-based classification
Each chapter opens with objectives, a definition and the classification.
  • Study Guide notes page covering risk factors, clinical features and bedside investigations for acute coronary syndromes
Causes, clinical features and investigations, with the examinable points in bold.
  • Management section following NICE guideline NG185, with immediate and pharmacological steps for acute coronary syndromes
Management follows the current NICE guideline, named and dated.
  • High-Yield Facts for UKMLA list followed by the start of the chapter's Key Flashcards table
High-yield facts, then the chapter's flashcard table.
  • Key Flashcards table on acute coronary syndromes with a question column and an answer column
A two-column flashcard table ends every chapter: cover the right-hand column and go.
  • Topic Summary table listing each chapter with its number of flashcards
The Topic Summary at the back lists the flashcard count per chapter.
  • How to Use This Book page for the Study Guide describing the study notes, key flashcards and NICE and BNF references
How the guide is organised, with the tip to pair it with the matching Question Bank volume.
  • Contents page of the UKMLA Study Guide sample listing its chapters
    Contents: one chapter per topic.

How a chapter works

Learn it in one pass, then test yourself on the last page.

  1. Objectives first

Each chapter opens with what you should be able to do after reading it, and a one-paragraph definition.

  2. The same headings every time

Types, causes, clinical features, investigations, management and complications, in that order, with the guideline references as you go.

  3. Close with the cards

A Key Flashcards table ends the chapter. Cover the answer column and work down it; the matching Question Bank chapter is the next step.

Study Guides FAQ

Before you buy.

How are the Study Guides different from the Question Bank?
The Study Guides are exam-focused revision notes: definitions, classifications, clinical features, investigations and management for each topic, with a flashcard table at the end of every chapter. The Question Bank is practice questions with worked explanations. Learn from the guide, then test with the bank; they share the same ten volumes. Learn more →
How much detail is in each chapter?
Enough to answer an AKT question on the topic, and not much more: about six or seven pages per topic including its flashcard table, with the classification, features, first-line investigations, NICE-aligned management and the complications examiners like. It is a revision guide, not a textbook.
Are the flashcards printable?
Yes. In the PDF each chapter's cards are a two-column table you can print or cover with a sheet of paper; in the EPUB they are a question-and-answer list. There are 8,020 across the series. Learn more →
Are the guides aligned with the current UKMLA?
Yes. Every chapter maps to a GMC MLA content map topic, and the management sections follow current NICE and BNF guidance, the same source material the MLA Prep app is built on.
Is there a free sample?
Yes: two full chapters of the Cardiovascular Medicine guide with their flashcard tables, as a PDF, in exchange for your email.
What format are the books?
Every purchase includes a PDF and an EPUB. The PDF keeps the typeset page and suits a laptop or tablet; the EPUB reflows to fit a phone or e-reader. You download both straight after checkout, and the link in your email keeps working if you need them again. Learn more →
Can I get a refund?
The books are instant digital downloads, so all sales are final and purchases are non-refundable; by buying, you consent to immediate access at checkout. If a file won't open or you were charged in error, email support@mlaprep.co.uk and we will put it right.
